Take 5 For Music

This year we are excited to begin a new program here at South Elementary called "Take 5 For Music".
Each morning, students will hear a different classical composition and a little information about the piece. There is so much music to listen to that we have a 5 year rotation of the music. Our first selection will be "Hoe-Down" by Aaron Copland. Check back for more updates!

Our second week selection was the third movement from Mozart's piece "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (A Little Night Music).

Week 3 brought us a selection from Mussorgsky's "Pictures At an Exhibition" - Promenade and Gnomus

In week 4 we heard the sound of the harpsichord in Byrd's composition, "Qui Passe".

For the 5th week, we are enjoying the chorale "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" from Bach's Cantata 147.

Week 6 brings us more of Mozart's music in the 3rd movement of his Horn Concerto No. 3

We listened to Prokofiev's Troika from Lt. Kije Suite in week 7

Next, we heard from a Baroque contemporary of Bach named Corelli and his Concert Grosso know as the Christmas Concerto. It was the 3rd movement.

For 2 weeks we have been listening to carols from around the world.
